About Me

Hi, my name is Dan Crawford.

If you’re here on my website you’d probably already know I’m a tattoo artist.
I have been tattooing since 2015 and just recently opened my own studio with my partner Teleah Howell and long time friend Makayla Walker.

The Grand Talon Tattoo Parlour is our pride and joy, located a short drive up north of Adelaide.
I specialise in realistic greywash but have been known to dip my toes in other styles.
In my spare time I like to game on my PC and give lots of attention to our 7 birds and puppy dalmation named MooMoo!

Well, enough about me! If you’d like to book or enquire about a tattoo please fill out the form below!

F.A.Q

  • How do I prepare for getting a tattoo

I recommend getting a good amount of sleep the night before and have a decent meal a little before the appointment. Feel free to bring a water bottle and a snack to keep you going during your appointment too. We do offer free soft drink to keep your sugars up and will also stop for lunch.

  • How do I book in

For first time clients get in contact via the booking form for an appointment or to discuss your ideas. If I’ve tattooed you before and don’t already have another booking from your last appointment then please use the booking form again but mention your last tattoo to remind me.

  • Do you do cover ups

I’m happy to help when I can, but every case is different and some things are just not possible without the help of laser tattoo removal first. If you’d like to chat about covering one of your existing tattoos, please get in contact via the booking form and attach a photo of what you’d like covered and we can go from there. The harder it is to cover your work and the more stubborn you are about lightening it the less interested I’ll be in taking on the work.

  • Why haven’t you responded to my DM on instagram

Sorry, I don’t work through DMs as I like to manage all my bookings through here and via email. If you’d like to book in please use my booking form, or for any other questions email me at [email protected]

  • When can I see the design

Designs are nearly always drawn quite close to the appointment, so I’ll have it ready for you to see on the day. But don’t stress, I always factor in a little extra time in case any minor changes need to be made.
If you have any specific queries, a consultation can be arranged so you can come in and we can chat about those extra details in person before your appointment.

  • Can i use numbing cream

Yes. Some tattoo artists discourage using numbing cream but I don’t mind at all. But PLEASE shave the area first! Make sure you layer the cream thick and wrap it all at least an hour or so before your booking. I recommend ‘numit’ that can be purchased from most local chemists at a very cheap price. Please avoid brands like ‘TKTX’ and ‘Tattoo Numbing Cream Co’ as these creams are known for their poor quality and bad skin reactions.

  • How much do you charge

For all new clients my day rate is $1000. This includes the deposit you pay. This cost covers your drawing and tattooing until around 4.30 – 5pm. I can finish most pieces in one session depending on the size and detail. Please note that although you get tattooed for about 4 to 5 hours I also put in hours and hours of drawing, stencilling and preparation into your piece. If we stop early or you only need a shorter session we can discuss a fair price to fit the circumstances.

  • How do the deposits work

Once a date has been agreed upon I will send through my deposit info and bank details. I take $200 deposits per day booking that come off the total of each day rate. These deposits are Non Refundable! But with at least a weeks notice I can shift them to a later date if need be.

  • Please Note

Cash Only! We are in the process of sorting out alternative means of payment, but cash is a must in the meantime.

Come ALONE to appointments. Our tattoo bays are very space limited so we don’t allow plus ones.

We also find the session to go smoother without bringing unnecessary distractions. If you get bored feel free to bring headphones and we also have an iPad with Netflix.

We are a private studio so when you arrive please ring the number on the door then wait patiently for a staff member to let you in.

Tattoo Aftercare

Short term aftercare

Once the tattoo is complete i will cover it in a thin layer of natural Vaseline and then cover with tight cling wrap. This must be left on for your entire journey home. No longer then a few hours. Once home please remove the wrap and wash your tattoo by either getting in the shower or just putting that body part under the water. Using antibacterial soap be sure to wash your hands first. Then you can massage the antibacterial soap over your tattoo ensuring you wash off all the blood and dried plasma. Removing all dried blood is extremely important as these are the areas infections would start first if not taken care of. Be sure to rinse all soap of and once done dry the tattoo with clean paper towel. Don’t soak or submerge your tattoo for long or it can absorb too much water causing fading effects. Tattoo should be left completely dry for the next 3 or so days to allow the skin to close and start the healing process. After these few days the surface skin starts to look dry and all redness is gone start applying a thin layer of aftercare cream (approved tattoo dedicated aftercare creams only). Clean daily when needed and reapply cream whenever the tattoo looks dry again for the next 2 weeks.

Long term aftercare

Please KEEP OUT OF SUN! In Australia we have a responsibility to take care of our skin from our harsh UV rays, and these same rays can absolutely demolish the pigment in our tattoos, destroying highlights and blurring ink together. A bit of sunscreen goes a long way. Continue to moisturise your tattoos now and again to bring them to life and keep them fresh for longer. Avoid laser hair removal over tattoos as this can cause slight damages to the pigments.
